BLS Healthcare Provider Course
The AHA has designed the BLS Healthcare
Provider course to prepare a wide variety of healthcare
professionals the ability to recognize life-threatening
emergencies and provide response in a safe, timely and effective
manner. The course is intended for certified or
noncertified, licensed or non-licensed healthcare professionals
who, as first responders may:
- Need to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in the workplace or similar settings
- Need to use an automated external defibrillator (AED)
- Need to help someone who is chocking
- Want or need a course completion card as a condition of employment
Individuals needing this class of certification include;
physicians, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, respiratory
therapists, physical and occupational therapists, physician's assistants,
residents or fellows, or medical or nursing students in training, aides, medical
or nursing assistants, police officers and other allied health personnel.
American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider course module
is approximately 3.5 hours in length. Both a written and a skills exam is
required for completion.
